I don’t usually write a review or share my thoughts about any series I watch — no specific rhyme or reason why I don’t.
However, here I am penning my thoughts about a series I recently watched.
P.S. this is not a review. It is only me sharing a few things I loved about the show.
So, let’s begin!
It all started one fine night while I was looking for a show to binge-watch on Netflix. My show choices are usually a little different from the others. I am known for watching shows that are a little offbeat, which makes it even harder to find something to watch.
Anyway, after hours of surfing Netflix and watching trailers, I landed up on this particular show,
Alexa and Katie.
P.S. Spoiler alert!
At first glance, the show felt like the usual high school drama, but it turned out to be much more.
The Paris Berelc and Isabel May starring sitcom, launched in 2020, is about friendship, family and love. The show has four seasons, and every episode left me wanting more. The storyline is about a girl who battles cancer and her best friend who helps her get through it. Not to forget their supportive family members. It also addressed mental health topics like panic attacks, and each actor has played their part very well.
When I read the synopsis, I assumed this would be something very cliche, but the way they showcased these delicate and serious concerns is commendable.

Of course, it did have the usual elements of high school crush, popularity and more, but most importantly, this show revealed a deeper meaning of friendship.
It shows us that it is not always about just being together, but acceptance, honesty, standing up for each other, space, respect and being there irrespective of our differences is what really matters.
This show truly made me miss my Katie, my best friend.
