Does Tough Love Always Triumph?

Tough love is the only language that the world understands, they say.
It makes you strong and independent, which is what you need to survive in this cruel world.
“But what about other forms of love? What about kindness, acceptance and softness? Don’t they make you feel loved? Happy and Good about yourself?”, I ask.
To which the world smirks and says, It’s time you burst that bubble. Shed those rose-tinted glasses and don this one, wiped clear with reality and made of toughened glass.”
I smiled and wore the new glasses, losing the real me along with the rose-tinted glasses that were cracked to pieces, only to look at the world in the same way the others did.
